Background to Department of Health and Aged Care Specialisation Verification Framework

Updated: Nov 22, 2023

The National Aged and Community Care Roundtable for Forgotten Australians (National Roundtable) supervised Queensland University of Technology student placement that focused on advancing research on Forgotten Australians and Care Leavers. A key research activity undertaken by the students was to review aged and community care providers who indicated on My Aged Care that they specialise in providing services to Forgotten Australians and Care Leavers.

The National Roundtable has shared the outcomes of this research activity with the Department of Health and Aged Care and has assisted them with opportunities to further develop the Specialisation Verification Framework. The National Roundtable continues to work with representatives from the Department of Health and Aged Care on this issue.

The final stage of the implementation of the framework is currently being undertaken in which providers who are not verified will be removed from My Aged Care.
